Shri Paul Quantok, Executive Director and Assistant Dean of Graduate (School) U.K., Shri W. H. Chhabra, Country Representative, Sullivan University EurAsia, U.K. visited NISD on January 17, 2006 with regard to Development, of Online Programme for Elderly Care at the National Level to ensure Minimum Standard of Trained Caregivers in the Private, Public and Voluntary Sector. Shri Satyendra Prakash, Director NISD appraised the Visitors on Activities of NISD and its mandate. Exchange of information and issues related to care givers in Old Age Care was deliberated upon in the Meeting. The need for developing criteria for enrolling caregivers, registration of elderly in the community, identification of the potential volunteers, cultural values and family based system in the caregivers training, elderly friendly approach were discussed at the length in the meeting.

Visit of Ms Robynne Wilson, Ms Kerry Gilarry, Care Training Australia (CTA), and Sabina Jain, Business Development Manager, Australian High Commission, New Delhi to the Institute on August 22, 2006.
Ms Robynne Wilson, Ms Kerry Gilarry, Care Training Australia (CTA), and Sabina Jain, Business Development Manager, Australian High Commission, New Delhi visited the Institute to understand the Caregivers training in geriatric care, being organized by NISD. The discussions focused on delivery age-care related and nursing courses in Australia, Global socio-economic ageing policies and Australian system of care giving in terms of meeting aged crisis and optimal care. Shri Satyendra Prakash, Director NISD also discussed about the significance of four stages of life in Hinduism, viz, Brahmacharya, Greehastha, Vanaprastha, and Sanyas. He mentioned that the last stage helps one to overcome fear psychosis and learn Art of Living, which in turn leads to Spiritual Moulding.
Visit of Delegation from International Longevity Center to the Institute on 31.08.2006.
A delegation comprising Shri S. D. Gokhale President International Longevity Center, Robert Buttler (USA), Monica Perara (South Africa), Charu Anand (CASPLAN) visited the Institute on August 31, 2006. The delegation discussed about the ageing scenario in their respective countries. Dr S. D. Gokhale while introducing the delegation emphasized on education and training especially developing manpower resources and need for research on emerging trends in ageing. Shri Satyendra Prakash, Director NISD appraised the delegation about the institute and its functions with special reference to activities related to Old Age Care Division. He further highlighted on the Long-term courses in Geriatric Care conducted by NISD as well as pertinent issues and programmes related to ageing. The delegation also interacted with students of One year Post Graduate Diploma Course. The students tried to understand the training of care givers and practicing system in other countries, the role and status of women in the ageing society and government policies and programmes.
Visit of Delegation From Mauritius Senior Citizens Council to NISD on February 28, 2007
An Interactive Session was held with a team of Mauritius Senior Citizen Council who visited the Institute on February 28, 2007. The visit was coordinated by Shri J.R.Gupta, President, Senior Citizens Welfare Association, Sabdarjung Enclave. Shri Satyendra Prakash, Director, NISD Welcomed the Delegates. In his Welcome Address, he emphasized on respect to elderly which is imbibed in our culture and tradition. Further, a brief history of the Institute and its activities was presented. While discussing an example of Lord Buddha was cited as to how he became a saint and was worried about getting old.
It was stressed upon that Longevity is becoming a new challenges and there is a need to promote traditional family system. However, the Institute is promoting care of elderly within the family and community and facilities are also being provided to the older persons who are in need of Institutional care. This has been overall ambit of Ministry and the Institute as well.
Shri M. Sunil Kumar, Deputy Director (NCDAP) gave a brief presentation on NISD with focused attention on the activities of Old Age Care Division. Smt. Indranee Varma, Chairperson, Senior Citizen Council of Mauritius, Smt. Chandranee Bhuckory, Chairperson, Special Fund for Elderly informed the Institute about their Organisation and activities being carried out for the welfare of elderly.
Shri P. N. Murthy, Joint Secretary (SD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his Chairmanship, Areas of Mutual Interest were identified such as collaboration, exchange of programmes, participation in training for Geriatric Care Givers and other areas of concern. Shri J. R. Gupta, President, Senior Council of Delhi emphasized the need to interact with NISD and it was felt imperative that MOU may be signed with NISD/MSJ&E. Shri Murthy, Joint Secretary (SD) informed about the major concessions announced by the Finance Minister for Senior Citizens.
