| The General Council,
the apex governing body of the Institute with the Secretary, Ministry
of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India as its President
lays down the broad policy parameters for the overall functioning of the
Institute. It has 20 members including senior officers from the various
Ministries/Departments of the Government of India and experts/specialists
in the areas of Social Defence.
The Executive Council with Joint Secretary
(Social Defence), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government
of India as the Chairman, monitors and guides the activities and programmes
of the Institute. The Council comprises of five members including Financial
Advisor, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and two experts/specialist
in the areas of Social Defence
The Director, National Institute of Social Defence
is the Principal Executive of the Institute and carries out day-to-day
management of the Institute in terms of the powers delegated under the
byelaws of the Institute. The Director is also the Member Secretary of
the General Council as well as the Executive Council and therefore provides
linkages between both the apex bodies of the Institute. |
