One month skill development training on Four wheeler driving and basic mechanism for transgender

National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India  in collaboration with the Department of Social Work, Sriramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore organized one month skill development training programme on “Four wheeler driving and basic mechanism for transgender” from 27th September  to 26th October,2016 at Coimbatore. The main aim of the training programme was to provide vocational skill to the transgender persons  and mainstreaming them in general community. After completion of the training, they become eligible to register in employment office to ensure job opportunity in public and private sectors in the field of driving. They may also become Cab drivers or entrepreneurs. The  training programme was inaugurated by Swami. Garishthananda, Secretary of Sriramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts & Science. Key persons among transgender participants also expressed their viewpoint during the programme. Sri. Victor, Advocate and the legal advisor to transgender community in Coimbatore delivered special address.Inaugural address and vote of thanks were delivered by Dr. C. Jayabalakrishnan, Principal and     Dr. K. Nagaraju, Head, Department of Social Work, respectively.  About 25 Transgender persons were trained. During the program, Dr. R.Giriraj, Deputy Director, NISD, MSJE also inspected the training program and found it going well.
