• One month basic course on Drug Abuse Prevention has been completed on 9th September organized by National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) in collaboration with RRTC-North & SPYM center at NISD, New Delhi.
  
  
  
• NISD participated in the Ministry`s Exhibition which was held at Valluvar Kottam Arangam (Auditorium), Near Independence Day Park , Nungambakkam, Chennai from 27-29 August 2008. All the apex organizations of MSJE participated at the exhibition. Assistive Devices were also distributed on this occasion.



• NISD organized “One day National Consultation Meet on Safe guarding the Rights of Elderly in India” on 28 August 2008 in association with ANUGRAHA at Scope Auditorium, New Delhi.

• A five-Day Training of Trainers on ‘Documentation & IT Initiatives’ for RRTCs & NGOs working in the field of Drug Abuse Prevention was organized by National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India at National Institute of Social Defence, New Delhi from 4th to 8th August 2008.



• One Day Consultation Meeting of Representatives from Government / NGOs from North-Eastern States for ‘Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Old Age care, Drug Abuse Prevention & Welfare of SCs & OBCs’ was organized by National Institute of Social Defence in Collaboration with Regional Resource & training Centre, NE-II (Kripa Foundation, Nagaland) on 6th August 2008 at Shillong, Meghalaya.



• A "Five Day Training in Geriatric-Care giving for SAARC Countries" was organized by National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India at Hotel Samrat, New Delhi from 21st to 25th July 2008. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Arbind Prasad, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India on 21st July 2008 in the presence of Dr. Khieya Bhattacharya Joint Secretary, (SAARC), The Ministry of External Affairs & Sh. Satyendra Prakash, Director of National Institute of Social Defence.



• National Institute of Social Defence alongwith other apex bodies of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India participated in the Ministry’s Exhibition held at Bhopal (MP) from 18-20 July 2008. Assistive Devises were distributed to the disabled persons. Ministry’s Policies and Schemes were also displayed for the welfare of the public during the Exhibition.
